EUROPEAN GARDEN HERITAGE NETWORK

This project is the result of a commission from The European Garden Heritage Network (EGHN) that set out to re-interpret the idea of a public garden.

The EGHN is a partnership across several countries in Europe that aims to broaden the appeal of garden landscapes to a more diverse audience.

  • My original aim was to transform the gardens that I photograph into areas of light and dark that reflect a myriad of encounters, possibilities and emotions. I wanted like to challenge the more traditional forms of garden photography and produce work that explores ideas of transformation and mutability evoking a sense of mystery, drama, suspense and enchantment. I was interested in looking at the spaces as a stage set,  and wanted to construct images that have an element of ambiguity within them.
